My Skiing Rival centers on Noah, a rigid, homophobic elite freeski runner, and Ilya, a wild, obsessive Russian-American backcountry skier who has fixated on Noah for six years. As bitter competitive rivals, I constantly provokes Noah to break his cold, self-restrained shell. A sudden avalanche traps them alone in a remote wooden cabin for days. Isolated by harsh snowstorms, Ilya’s possessive, borderline violent affection overwhelms Noah’s physiological repulsion, triggering endless clashes, hidden soft moments and suppressed longing. Traumatized after their escape, Noah retreats from skiing while Ilya lingers around him.
