The mermaid Melanie gave up the ocean to marry the human Shawn out of gratitude. She was deeply loved after marriage and gave birth to their daughter Sophie. But on the night Sophie was born, Shawn, mistakenly believing the mermaid clan had killed his sister, imprisoned Melanie. For three years, he repeatedly cut her tail to draw blood for his lover Kellie as a tonic.
Cruelly, Shawn plucked off Sophie’s scales and drowned the child, who could not breathe underwater. He ground the pearl Sophie turned into after death into powder to stabilize Kellie’s fake pregnancy. In despair, Melanie shed blood tears, triggering the mermaid’s curse.
The truth came out: Kellie was the real murderer who framed Melanie and faked pregnancy. Overwhelmed with regret, Shawn begged for forgiveness by the sea every day. Melanie was rescued back to the ocean, and Sophie was reborn from her scale. Melanie let go of the past, returned to the deep sea with her daughter, and refused to forgive Shawn, leaving him to suffer under the curse.
