The young werewolf protagonist, Layla Walsh, is born into a family of hunters. She inherits her birth mother Alice's werewolf bloodline. After Alice's death, she is abandoned by her biological father, Victor Walsh, but miraculously survives and ends up in the wilderness, eventually becoming the new werewolf ruler. Six years later, seeking the truth about her mother's death, she returns to the Walsh family to take revenge on Victor.
