The young werewolf protagonist, Layla Walsh, is born into a family of hunters. She inherits her birth mother Alice's werewolf bloodline. After Alice's death, she is abandoned by her biological father, Victor Walsh, but miraculously survives and ends up in the wilderness, eventually becoming the new werewolf ruler.
