Shadow was once the most lethal field commander in Phantom Squad. A single counter-terrorism operation overseas cemented her as a legend. Then she disappeared.
Her squadmate, Frank Albright, took a bullet meant for her and didn't come home. She turned down the highest military commendation. She refused everything. The only thing she chose was to disappear, because disappearing felt like the only debt she could actually pay.
For a year, she lived under a new name, Elise Voss, working as a janitor at Valor Training Center, the facility Frank built. No rank. No recognition. Just quiet, invisible guardianship over her fallen squadmate's family and the place he left behind.
Then Meridian Group sets its sights on Valor. The corporation wants a forced acquisition, and when Derek Albright, Frank's son and the center's current director, refuses to sell out, Meridian escalates. They organize a public challenge tournament, designed to humiliate Valor on camera and strip the center of whatever credibility it has left.
Valor loses the combat round. The team starts to fracture from the inside. At the moment it matters most, Elise steps forward. No introduction, no explanation. She drops the three-time defending champion in front of a stunned crowd.
Right before the marksmanship round, the situation gets worse. Leah Foster, Valor's top shooter, has been pushing for more authority behind the scenes. When she's turned down, she walks straight to Meridian's side. The center hits rock bottom. Every eye in the room turns to the quiet janitor at the back of the room.
Elise picks up two guns. She walks to the line.
She isn't just making amends anymore.
