Ethel Hudson learned she had terminal brain cancer when her son prepared for the college application. Ethel was helping him with it and was very strict with him. They argued a lot. When Ethel was still married, she hired Karen White as Bill's tutor. Karen drove a wedge between Ethel and Bill and seduced Ethel's husband, Hale Hudson. But Bill was on Karen's side.
