Sara Reed, a Seattle professional, returns to her rural hometown for a funeral only to be kidnapped and illegally imprisoned in a remote barn by her deceptive stepmother, Margaret Cole. Margaret’s motive is to seize the family inheritance and bury her history as a serial captor. Assisting her is the corrupt Sheriff Briggs, who accepts bribes to protect Margaret and publicly dismisses Sara’s pleas for help by claiming she is mentally unstable. Inside the barn, Sara discovers she is not the first victim after finding notches carved into the walls and a hidden, cracked phone belonging to a previous captive. While Sara secretly prepares a rusty nail for defense and records a distress video, the righteous Deputy Claire Navarro begins an unauthorized investigation into the town's cold cases. Claire eventually uncovers a hidden box containing victim mementos and Briggs’ bribery records, confirming the conspiracy. As Margaret prepares to permanently silence her, Sara stages a daring escape, using the sharpened nail to wound Margaret and flee. Claire and the state police arrive to intercept the captors; Briggs confesses his crimes, while Margaret is led away in handcuffs. During the raid, police discover a second hidden barn and rescue several other long-term survivors. Although Sara returns to her life, Margaret signals a mysterious figure in the crowd during her arrest, and Sara soon receives an anonymous call hinting at a much larger, more dangerous network.
