A poor widow, Peach, saves Blackberry, head of the Berry family, when he is on the verge of fatal dehydration and shattering, using her own milk. Born allergic to all juices, Blackberry awakens to discover her milk is the one and only antidote he can accept—and one he desperately craves. The mark left by her milk becomes an indelible physiological bond branded into both their lives. To make a living, Peach hides her identity and takes a job as wet nurse to Blackberry's nephew, Goldenberry. Inside this juice-forbidden mansion, Blackberry must not only compete with a suckling infant rival for her feeding and attention, but also fend off outside enemies coveting the family. Meanwhile, caught in an instinctive craving born from their milk bond and an increasingly uncontrollable sweet entanglement, Peach must search her heart and make a final choice: to flee from or surrender to this fated, boundary-crossing taboo relationship.
