While repairing tunnels late at night, Bolt, a New York plumber, rescues Hilara, a princess of the Lizard Clan, who has been betrayed by her elder brother and hunted all the way to the surface. Drawing on his intimate knowledge of the underground pipeline network and street-smart wit, he teams up with the princess to foil a power-grabbing conspiracy forged by rebel lizard factions in league with greedy surface energy tycoons, paving the way for peaceful diplomatic ties between the two races. Afterwards, the pair stand side by side to tackle successive crises including destabilized seals deep within the Earth’s core, the reawakening of primeval beasts, and infiltration by extraterrestrial forces. Starting off as bickering rivals, they gradually grow into soulmates. Their adventure stretches far beyond underground tunnels, unfolding across the planet’s core, deep ocean trenches, and the boundless starry cosmos.
