It follows Alan, a young modern man. After being betrayed by his girlfriend, he is unexpectedly pulled through a portal by an ancient idol and falls into Corehold, an underground city-state ruled by female warriors. In this world that worships combat prowess, where one’s worth is judged by strength, Alan lacks fighting skills and possesses average physical fitness. He is widely scorned, and could even be put to death at any moment as a useless outsider.
When the city-state faces cascading crises — fading flame sources, rotting food, unattended wounded miners, and collapsing tunnels — Alan draws on everyday life skills: starting fires, cooking, preserving provisions, sanitation, and caring for the injured. He resolves crisis after crisis and slowly earns the tribe’s acceptance.
Lena, the calm, formidable silver-haired commander, initially regards him as a dangerous outsider. Yet as they spend time together, she comes to realize this seemingly gentle man holds something far more precious than brute strength: responsibility, kindness and courage.
