Seven years ago, Sophie, a top ballet principal, and Leo, an architect at a low point in his career, were deeply in love with each other. During a sudden theater fire, Leo lost control of his temper and was on the verge of transforming into his werewolf form. To prevent Leo from harming anyone, Sophie threw her arms around him, but in doing so, her leg was crushed by falling debris. She also inhaled large amounts of smoke and suffered severe burns, which left her voice permanently hoarse and her face disfigured.
Sophie inadvertently discovered that Leo's family was actually an elite financial conglomerate, and that Leo's mother—in order to keep Leo's werewolf identity a secret—forced Sophie to leave him. Sophie gave birth to their daughter, Nina, on her own and struggled to survive in the slums.
Nina showed extraordinary talent in dance. At just five years old, she secretly began performing on the streets to earn money for her mother's leg treatment, all without Sophie's knowledge. By chance, Nina encountered Leo, who had since become the head of the conglomerate. Unaware that Nina was his own daughter, Leo instead tormented and humiliated her repeatedly, because her dance movements reminded him painfully of Sophie—the woman he considered a "traitor." It was only at the very end that he discovered Nina's mother was none other than Sophie, the woman he had both loved and hated for seven long years.
