Migrant worker Sheng Lin is humiliated when a diner owner dumps food on him for questioning the price. He realizes his fellow workers are systematically overcharged by the local diner, run by Sun Biao, which holds a monopoly. Sheng decides to fight with food: he will build his own canteen. He recruits workers' families and sets up a kitchen in an abandoned warehouse.
