Princess Andromeda’s homeland fell, and her marriage fell apart. She drowned herself in the Aegean Sea, only to be granted seven days by Thanatos, the God of Death, to complete her own natural burial in Delphi. As a spirit, she carried her corpse and asked her unaware husband, King Creon, to escort her on the journey.
During the trip, she gradually let go of her past grievances, while Creon, sensing no truth of her death, revealed his deep affection in memories. When they reached the sacred land on the seventh day, Andromeda vanished forever. Creon finally learned the truth and his coldness was only to protect her. He fulfilled her last wish of natural burial, then spent the rest of his life with their lost fawn, waiting to reunite with her by the Styx.
