A truck driver spends ten years paying mortgages on two family homes, only to learn that both properties will be given to his successful older brother. His only “inheritance” is the responsibility of caring for an uncle who has lived with severe mental illness for years. Refusing to accept one final act of exploitation, he cuts ties with his parents and moves into a small rental with the uncle everyone else abandoned. Poverty, prejudice, and relentless pressure push them to the edge, yet the two become each other’s reason to endure. In a world that treats them as burdens, they slowly build the first home either has ever truly had.
