Jacob and Kathy were a loving couple until a phone call made him believe she married him for money while loving someone else. His ex-girlfriend Cindy lied about having had leukemia, and out of guilt, he trusted her even when she repeatedly framed Kathy. In a car accident, he abandoned the severely injured Kathy to save Cindy first and even forced Kathy to donate blood for Cindy, causing her to die from excessive blood loss.
