Human girl Lily Harmon, desperate for funds to pay for her grandmother Rose's heart surgery, enters Blackwood Manor as a maid. Ethan Blackwood, the current Wolf King and president of the Blackwood Corporation, is struck by Lily's striking resemblance to his deceased mother, Eleanor, upon their first meeting. At the manor, Lily unexpectedly encounters her former lover, Ryan Cole—the man who saved her five years ago but lost his memory in a car accident. Lily obtains this "evidence," her last shred of trust in Ethan crumbles, and she angrily breaks off their relationship. Lily's body, weakened by the second termination of her contract, rapidly deteriorates, causing her heart to fail. She dies with resentment after hearing news of her grandmother's death.
