Debra, an Alpha's daughter, is humiliated by her stepmother Marley at her father's second wedding. Distraught, she has a one-night stand with Alpha Caleb, becomes pregnant, and is disowned. Her maid, Vicky, dies helping her escape. Caleb, believing Debra was a "hooker" hired by Marley's brother Colin, further humiliates her. Debra finds refuge in Xeric Pack, raises her daughter Elena, and becomes Alpha Gale's secretary. Five years later, on a mission to investigate corrupt Gamma Adam in Roz Town, Debra re-encounters Caleb. Colin's confession reveals Caleb's misunderstanding, causing him guilt. Debra faces assassination attempts from her old pack, saved by Caleb. She discovers Adam's ties to Marley's pack debt and uses a staged robbery to gather evidence. Debra keeps Elena's existence secret from Caleb, who shows growing concern and tries to protect her, despite her pretending to have a boyfriend.
