In reality, the Serpent King needs his help to hatch the egg, and the two travel to the geothermal spring in Qinghai. Along the way, they are besieged by snake swarms and battle a White Serpent. After the Golden Hatchling hatches, it forms a pact, awakens the Serpent King, and finally, the man and the serpent retreat into the deep mountains, bidding a distant farewell.
