The treacherous Marquis of Serenity tries to harm the Empress and schemes to drive them apart. Believing the Empress dead, Ashton raises an army, marches to the Capital, foils the conspiracy, and saves the Empress. He declines co-ruling, returns to Peach Blossom County, and is enfeoffed as First-Rank Magistrate.
