Rose Lane, a widow helping her son run a small restaurant, often faces mistreatment from her daughter-in-law. One night, Pete Long, who is being chased by assailants, bursts into the restaurant. Rose saves him, but Pete has been drugged with an aphrodisiac, leading to an unexpected intimate encounter between them. Before leaving, Pete promises to return and marry her.
