Simon Hartwell and Willa Fletcher were young lovers, but had to separate when Simon was diagnosed with a brain tumor, leading Willa to raise their daughter, Nina, alone. Five years later, Willa becomes a vegetative state, and Nina plays the violin on the streets for money. Simon, now the wealthiest man in the city, returns and searches for Willa, eventually reuniting the family.
