John Sullivan faked his disappearance in a skiing accident to escape his marriage for three months. His wife Wennie Castillo exhausted every effort searching for him, only to spot him partying wildly with his "girl best friend" Nancy Shawn at a bar. Worse, she overheard him boast that he would reveal himself only after she had completely broken down.
Heartbroken but resolute, Wennie did not confront him on the spot. Instead, she canceled John's legal identity records, announced his death to all relatives and friends, and organized an official funeral. During preparations, she discovered John had repeatedly brought Nancy back to their marital home to cheat. Harvey Sullivan, the true head of the Sullivan family, also stepped forward to provide more evidence of John's infidelity and fully supported her.
On the day of the funeral, John showed up and lied about being rescued by a stranger. Wennie calmly played the full cheating videos, presented the official death certificate, and handed him a divorce agreement—stipulating she would only restore his legal identity if he signed and left with nothing. After the divorce, Harvey approached Wennie under the pretext of business cooperation. The two grew closer as they worked together, and Wennie learned Harvey had secretly had a crush on her for years.
Unwilling to accept defeat, John pulled the same trick again, faking another disappearance to win Wennie back. But Wennie saw through his scheme instantly and made sure Nancy heard his true words that he only wanted to use her. In the end, consumed by hatred from betrayal, Nancy pushed John off a cliff, leaving him permanently disabled. The two torment each other for the rest of their lives, while Wennie marries Harvey and finds genuine happiness.
