In Wood Village, the Wood family celebrates their newborn infant's 100-day birthday with a grand troupe performance. During this event, Diana Clark, a widow who married into the Wood family, comes to borrow money. She's struggling to raise her daughter, Phoebe Wood, alone in the mountains and can't afford the high university fees. Instead of receiving help, she's beaten.
